¿Cómo usar expresiones relacionadas con “time”? Academia de Inglés Online.
Vamos a empezar explicando que la palabra “time” significa “tiempo” pero ¿cuándo usar este término? y ¿cómo expresar el tiempo o la duración de las cosas?
¿Cómo usar expresiones relacionadas con “time”?
El uso de la palabra “time” lo haremos para hablar cuándo algo ocurre.
-Can we meet at 10.30 at the bus stop? Yes, it`s the best time for us.
NOT: Yes, it`s the best hour for us.
Seguramente sí hemos oído expresiones de tiempo con “time” como: last time o next time para comunicar la última vez o la próxima vez” que hicimos o vamos a hacer algo.
Otras formas de expresar el tiempo sin usar el término “time”:
• At the moment: para indicar que algo está ocurriendo ahora
-I’m working at the moment. Can I see you tomorrow?
• Last: para expresar un tiempo anterior al “ahora”, por ejemplo acompañado de year, month, week,…
– My best friend called me last week
• Next: si queremos hablar de una acción que ocurrirá después del “ahora”
-I’m going to Spain next February
TIP: no se debe usar el artículo “the”: “…the next February”
Otras expresiones de tiempo
• Morning, afternoon, evening:
-Morning: hasta las 12h de la mañana
-Afternoon: desde las 12.00 hasta las 18h aproximadamente
-Evening: desde las 18h aprox. hasta que nos vamos a dormir
• Night: para expresar cuando la gente se va a dormir
*la expresión es “at night”
-He always brushes his hair before going to sleep at night
• A/an + minute/hour/day/month/year
-The driving test is an hour long
• También es posible hablar de one and a half hours/minutes
*No es correcto: four hours and a half long
Correcto: four and a half hours long
